So this is an interesting concept, as Amazon is looking to deliver to your door Call of Duty: Black Ops III starting at midnight EST on release day. The catch is that you have to live in one of 20 metropolitan areas that offer the Prime Now 1-hour service and order and reserve your delivery slot in the Prime Now App starting Nov 4th. In addition it sounds like you can order snacks to be delivered with your game is you so choose. The current cities where Prime Now is offered include Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Manhattan, Miami, Minneapolis, Orange County, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle. If you live in one of these areas and have Prim, then you will have a two-hour delivery window and no delivery fee to have the game in your hands.

While I applaud Amazon for trying a new service to get new titles in gamers hands as close to the midnight sell time as possible, it seems like heading out to a midnight release or downloading it from a digital format (Xbox Live, PlayStation Store or Steam) seems like a more logical and likely long-term solution for those wanting to get that instant fix. Or you could, you know, get off your ass and go to a midnight release or have it delivered the next day waiting for you when you get home from school or work. Regardless of what I think, if the consumer demands it and Amazon deems it is a success, then this could be commonplace in the future. You just have to wonder if their drones will be required to have blinking red landing lights when dropping off your order at 2:00 a.m…
