The Elder Scrolls Online [we give it 8 out of 10] spent a year recouping MMO development costs the old-fashioned way: With paid subscriptions on PC. But now the house that published the masterful MorrowindOblivion, and Skyrim is taking its Elder Scrolls Everything to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Rarely do consoles get MMOs of this scope and scale. Rechristening itself The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, it becomes the first pay-for-it-once MMO on both platforms (DC Universe Online on PS4 and Neverwinter on Xbox One are both MMOs proper, but use the free-to-play model).

This video is a primer for those of us—myself included—that never dipped into TESO on PC. You can travel to all nine of Tamriel’s provinces; visit merchants, guilds, banks, and taverns; hunt, fish, and cook; collect resources, weapons, and artifacts; and do it all while fighting off monsters and men in dungeons and remote corners of Tamriel. Make friends and war for the Ruby Throne!

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will retail for $59.99 and have an optional premium subscription. An Xbox Live subscription is required to play it on Xbox One; PlayStation Plus isn’t required to play it on PS4. TESO:TU launches on PS4 and Xbox One on June 9.
