Screw Fallout 4, this is what I have been waiting years for. Bethesda’s first E3 press conference just ended and we got our first in game look at the new Doom and I could not be happier. Doom is one of the reasons I am the gamer I am today. It was the first videogame that I played that I fell in love with, that I became attached to and it’s still a game that I play to this day.

It is, in my opinion, one of the greatest games of all time, simply for for the fact that the game offered the perfect blend of action and challenge. I know almost all of the levels by heart and I can still load up a game on Ultra Violent difficulty and have a lot of fun.

I remember when Doom 3 was announced years ago and I even built a gaming PC specifically to play that game. While I did enjoy Doom 3, it was still disappointing. It was a fantastic game, but it just didn’t feel like Doom. Doom should be about fast, intense action, where you are constantly blowing away everything in sight. Doom 3 however was a lot slower and more of a survival horror game.

I have waited so… long… for the next Doom to be announced and Bethesda gave us our first look at the game tonight.

OH. MY. GOD.

Doom is back! This is what I have been waiting for! It’s what Doom should always be. Running around blowing away anything that moves. No regenerating health BS, no high cover and crappy enemy AI that always hides behind cover, and from the looks of it, no linear levels. It’s just run and gun action and I could not be happier. They cut the trailer and the presentation off at the perfect moment as well when the Cyberdemon makes his appearance and the main character busts out the BFG 9000.

Be sure to check out the first official gameply trailer below.

Doom is currently scheduled for a Spring 2016 release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
