Wasteland 2 has been a pretty good success for inXile Entertainment and today they announced a Game of the Year edition is in the works.

Coming to PC, Mac, and Linux systems, the Game of the Year edition will be updated to use the Unity 5 engine. Unlike a lot of Game of the Year editions, inXile is really going to great lengths on the improvements for this release. The new engine update will mean better textures, models, and physics. They even recorded new voice-overs.

Gameplay has also been tweaked with the addition of a Precision Strike system. It sounds like the V.A.T.S. system in Fallout 3 where you can target various body parts.

If you were a backer of the project on Kickstarter like me, you’ll get this update for free. Yup, you won’t have to spend a single cent as backers will get this as a reward for helping them fund the original project.

There’s no word on when the Game of the Year edition will be released yet.
