GOG Galaxy gets its first major update

GOG Galaxy, the frontend client for Good Old Games, has just been patched to beta 1.1. This update introduces the rollback feature, which lets you restore any individual game to a previous version or update. I’m excited about this feature as I’ve had a number of unfortunate situations where a publisher drops a patch that completely breaks a game. This update also improves the friends list, after the team received feedback following the Witcher 3 launch.

I’ve been playing around with Galaxy for a while now and I really like it. Valve and Steam have rarely steered me wrong–outside of its disastrous launch alongside Half-Life 2 in 2004–but GOG’s extra transparency and flexibility are growing on me. If Galaxy gets even more stable in its final release I’ll probably do all my big day-one game purchases there.
