The RTS scene is no stranger to big ticket tournaments–just look at South Korea and a little thing called “Starcraft.” Now Petroglyph is teaming with Grey Box and Six Foot to host a tourney for their neophyte RTS Grey Goo. The Grey Goo Tournament Series will involve several tiered events culminating in a January 29th-31st showdown at PAX South next year. The total value of cash and prizes stands at $75,000, with the first qualifier happening later this month on the 26th.

I reviewed Grey Goo and while I’m no RTS expert I found it to be a promising and deep new strategy title. Now with a few months of online play to foster a healthy community it will be interesting to see the best players of this relatively new game test their strategies against each other. Think you got what it takes? Check the press release after the jump for details on signing up.
