Nintendo Download for 10/16/2014: More Castlevania fun hits the Wii U

Got a tad behind on this week’s Nintendo Download, but nonetheless here’s what’s hitting the eShops this week.

Over on the Wii U’s Virtual Console we continue the adventures of the Belmont clan with Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance.  I’ve said before that I’m a fan of all of the GBA Castlevania games, somewhat because they each bring something different to the table than the game before it.  With Harmony of Dissonance you use a mechanic known as Spell Fusion to combine sub-weapons and spells to create up to thirty new attacks.  It’s been a while since I’ve gone through this one so I’ll likely give it a download sometime soon.

Elsewhere on the Wii U eShop we have Ballpoint Universe: Infinite, an indie shooter that’s made entirely with ballpoint-pen sketches.  You basically explore “doodle worlds” and blast enemies in sixteen missions.  I’ve always said that graphics don’t necessarily make the game, so if the gameplay is good, I’m down for it.

There’s also a decent amount of eShop sales going on including SteamWorld Dig and Squids Odyssey on the 3DS and Wii U being more than thirty and sixty percent off respectively until October 30th, as well as Etrian Odyssey IV: Legend of the Titan and Etrian Odyssey Untold: Millennium Girl on the 3DS will be on sale from October 20th to November 3rd.

Finally, the next two weeks will see some more awesome classics hit the Virtual Consoles as Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow will arrive on the Wii U next week, followed by Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, Demon’s Crest, and Gargoyle’s Quest II: The Demon Darkness arriving on October 30th.
