It seems like the Wii U Virtual Console scene is starting to pick up a little more again with two new releases this week, one of which was a Famicom and arcade exclusive title…mostly.  Vs. Excitebike was a version released exclusively in Japan for the Famicom Disk System and was also part of the Vs. arcade series in the U.S. that allows for two player split screen and also includes a track editor that lets you build up to twenty classic tracks.  You can then go for the best time on those tracks or take them on with friends.  Think of it like an expanded version of the Excitebike we got back in the 80’s.

The Nintendo 64 classic Mario Golf also hit the Wii U Virtual Console this week.  Mario’s first golf outing allows you to hit the links with up to three friends in multiple game play modes, multiple courses, and easy to learn gameplay.  It’s also fun to compliment and taunt your opponents when it’s not your turn to hit the ball.  If you’re a fan who’s played the later games in the Mario Golf series, this is definitely one to check out.

Finally, the 3DS indie hits Gunman Clive and Gunman Clive 2 are now on the Wii U in one package.  In Gunman Clive HD You take on the role of Clive as he fights bandits, robots, and dinosaurs in a Western-themed action platformer.  With an interesting mix of elements like that, how can you go wrong?
