Want close to NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan X performance but don’t want to shell out $1000? This card is for you.

Yesterday, NVIDIA launched a brand new enthusiast card. The GeForce GTX 980 Ti is the new bad boy and it’s a monster. The card sits nicely between the GTX 980 and the Titan X. Retailing for $650, the GeForce GTX 980 Ti will have a base clock of 1000MHz boosting up to 1075MHz and 6GB of ram. It’s got 2816 CUDA cores, 768 more than the GTX 980 and 186 less than the Titan X.

Specs GTX 980 GTX 980 Ti Titan X
CUDA Cores 2048 2816 3072
Base clock 1126 MHz 1000 MHz 1000 MHz
Boost clock 1216 MHz 1075 MHz 1075 MHz
Memory clock 7GHz 7GHz 7GHz
Texture units 128 176 192
ROP units 64 96 96
TDP 165W 250W 250W
Price $500 $650 $1000

Reviews are out now and it’s running close to Titan X speeds, which is a great accomplishment. The card is billed as being made for 4K gaming, but you’ll still need to turn down some settings to achieve good framerates at that resolution. It’ll be a few more generations before you can play at 4K with all the bells and whistles on, but that’s not to say you can’t enjoy a higher resolution gaming experience right now. And if you want to, the GeForce GTX 980 Ti is the card you want to get to do so.
