PAX Prime 2015: Nintendo’s lineup

PAX Prime kicks off tomorrow and Nintendo will be on hand with playable demos of their upcoming games. Star Fox Zero, Super Mario Maker, Zelda Tri-Force Heroes and a build of Splatoon including the latest updates will all be on the show floor. PAX will also host tournaments for Smash Bros 3DS, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. I’m particularly interested to see what the general public response is to Star Fox; reports out of E3 indicate its unorthodox control scheme is…spotty.

There will also be a panel discussion led by the Treehouse folks where talk about all things Xenoblade Chronicles X. I’m really looking forward to this one as the RPG seems positively massive. It will probably be the game I use to fill time during the interminable wait for No Man’s Sky.

Of course what PAX would be complete without some love for indie games? Nintendo is renting a space at the adjacent Sheraton Seattle Hotel to host another Nindies event to show off 13 independent titles, with developers on hand. Indie games are a notoriously mixed bag but Nintendo’s quality control is legendary, so I’ve actually enjoyed most of the indie games I’ve gotten for Wii U. I’m especially excited for Shin’en’s FAST Racing Neo, which looks amazing.
