Mortal Kombat X comes out next week and NetherRealm Studios held the final pre launch MKast showing off the final two members of the roster. This MKast focused on the Briggs family, Jax and Jaqui.

First we had…. *sigh*… Jax. More on him later but here are his variations.

  • Heavy Weapons – Gains a rocket launcher, and sub machine gun.
  • Wrestler – Gains the multi-slam, back breaker and grab combos.
  • Pumped Up – Gains enhanced ground pound, and interactive gotcha grab.

Next up we had daddy’s little girl, Jaqui Briggs. Jaqui takes some inspiration from Jax but thankfully they had her stand out and have her own play style. Here is a rundown of her variations.

  • Shotgun – Gains medium ranged shotgun blast and low shotgun blast.
  • High Tech – Gains short ranged plasma blasts and plasma gauntlet buff.
  • Full Auto – Gains long range machine gun and rocket attacks.

As for my opinion, at first I really didn’t like Jaqui, but after seeing her variations, she seems like she could be a lot of fun to play. At the very least, I’ll give her a chance.

Jax on the other hand, I’ll say what I said before. Please go away forever. Complain about Hsu Hao, Dairou and Darrius all you want but I would take any of them over Jax. Since he was introduced in Mortal Kombat 2, he has always been my most hated character of all time. He is so incredibly boring, generic and has the personality of a cardboard box. Absolutely nothing I have seen from him in Mortal Kombat X has interested me at all. Oh well, I never expected to enjoy the entire roster but Jax will only get play from me if I am forced to play as him.

The wait is nearly over. Mortal Kombat X hits stores this coming Tuesday on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Unfortunately for last gen gamers, those versions have been delayed until June. Time to upgrade!
